The reason why the production capacity of Tesla's Shanghai factory has expanded so quickly is mainly due to the lower manufacturing costs of Chinese factories. Musk once said, "Tesla's Shanghai factory has the lowest cost structure of any factory."

Tesla plans to expand the production capacity at its Shanghai factory from the current 1.25 million units to 1.75 million units.
